CO2 Components
CO2 regulators, bubble counters, CO2 diffusers and other CO2 parts are available
separately from Aqua Buys.
A CO2 regulator is attached to a CO2 bottle with a standard GGA320
valve. The regulator allows the consistent delivery of CO2 to a diffuser or a
calcium reactor. The flow is adjustable and can be measured with a bubble counter.
A bubble counter is a small, clear cylindrical device that is
partially filled with water. The CO2 gas "bubbles" through the counter allowing
measurement of the rate of CO2 flow. Standard starting bubble rates are around
15 - 20 bubbles per minute (1 bubble per 3 seconds) for a freshwater planted tank
and 30-60 bubbles per minute (1 bubble per second) for a calcium reactor on a
reef tank.
CO2 diffusers disperse the CO2 gas in the form of tiny bubbles.
The bubbles then dissolve into the aquarium water allowing the carbon to be consumed
by your aquarium plants.
